Fatima was at risk of missing school.
Your donation can change that.
Fatima’s family couldn’t afford to keep her in school.
So she dropped out and started selling cassava soup on the street.
“I was seeing my friends in their school uniforms and I wished that opportunity was mine.”
Fatima’s story isn’t unique.
In Sierra Leone, teenage girls are more likely to be married than complete high school.
This is Fatima's story.
Meet Fatima
Fatima lives in Tonkolili District in Sierra Leone, one of the country’s poorest regions.
She became an orphan at a young age and lived with her grandmother, who tried her hardest to care for her. But with very little income, even the basics were hard to afford.
Fatima was sent to the city to live with relatives, hoping she would have the chance to go to school. Instead, she spent her days working in the market, carrying heavy loads and trying to earn money just to get by.
With support from One Girl, Fatima is back in school and working towards her dream.
“I feel proud to have the opportunity to be supported by One Girl. Having all the things I need for school feels really good. With school materials and lunch provided, I can focus on my studies.”
Today, Fatima is confident, determined, and full of hope.
She dreams of becoming a doctor, so she can help others in her community access the care they need.
This EOFY, you can help more girls like Fatima return to school and keep going.

- If all girls completed secondary school, child marriage would drop by 64%.
